PGYC’s Royal Cargo ASR2024 finished with two clear contenders for Overall 1st Place and the ASR2024 ‘Royal Cargo Cup’. Both Royal Cargo’s own ‘Emocean 1’ in Racing Class and Rick McGonegal’s ‘Neptunus’ in Performance Cruiser Class took 1st Place in class on each day of racing and were clear overall winners in class.
However, ‘Emocean 1’ lead the way across the finish line each day and despite a punishing handicap consistently sailed the faster race on corrected time to win Overall 1st Place and the 20th Anniversary ASR2024 ‘Royal Cargo Cup’… Congratulations to Michael Raeuber, skipper Philip Schlohsnagel and the Emocean 1’ crew on PGYC’s first 1, 2, 3 victory!!
‘Neptunus’ took Overall 2nd Place and the ‘CMI Offshore Trophy’ home while the award for 3rd place, the ‘Philippine Retirement Authority Cup’ overall is pending a protest.
Other class Overall 1st Place winners were Adolfo “Pong’ Reyes’ ‘Shangri-La’ in the Classic Cruiser Class and Kareem McGill’s ‘Soniya’ in Multihull Class. Second in class were Alan Burrell’s ‘Sandoway’ in Racing Class, Steve Longmuir’s ‘Sbrae’ in Performance Cruiser Class, JIhn Quirk’s ‘Columbus’ in Classic Cruiser Class and Sven Spiegelberg’s ‘Rising Sun’ in Multihull Class.
In Overall 3rd place were Kevin Moylan’s ‘Irresistible’, skippered by Peter Stevens, in Racing Class; Oliver Scholer’s Kambal, skippered by Richard Gates, in Performance Cruiser Class; Heinz Buchler’s ‘Cape North’ in Classic Cruiser Class and Commodore ‘Hughie’ Griffith’s ‘Camille’ in Multihull Class.
