September 02, 2024
I see Philippines National Dinghy Coach Mario is in Puerto Galera for his scheduled monthly SBP Training Weekend, and we have three SBP teams heading to Manila to compete in the PSA Championships this coming September 6,7,8 (I am sending-sponsoring Capt. Tabo to tag along and help with mentoring etc). Big congrats to all for their wonderful ongoing sailing efforts. The SBP ASR2024 regatta is also not far off now on November 26 – 27.
I am told that the great new initiative and first in series – ‘Smokehouse Sunday’ (curated by ‘Not-Just-Coffee’ eatery, out along the Sabang Road) went off a treat on Sunday, September 01, and was well patronized, despite the weather (will give it a whirl when back in PG for sure)The Wednesday ‘Pie Night’ also continues to be well patronized (even lovely apple pies coming on stream too I see – yummmy)…big congrats to the 2024 Board.
SY ALLUSIVE: stainless work done – pics, new Raymarine system going in and extra 2x sets of sheet winches being installed now, and soon also heading for a final haul-out, to install a dyneema bowsprit bobstay tang and anti-foul job – including SpeedProp application, ahead of the delivery trip to Puerto Galera at month’s end / early Oct 2024 (fingers crossed to get back in time for the ASR2024 – very tight though).
Dutch cruising yacht ‘Crystal’, with owner Michal Palczynski aboard, are on their way to Puerto Galera from Indonesia and scheduled to arrive this week. I hope our recent Typhoon Enteng didn’t spoil the trip!
Americas Cup #37: it has been enthralling to watch each night – Kiwis won the preliminary regatta and the round-robins going on now, with (Italy) Luna Rossa in the lead at this stage (excluding NZ, as they go through as the Defender anyways).
