BEAUTIFUL! The PGYC Action Divers Easter Regatta (20th - 23rd March) proved to be the most fun sailing event held so far in 2008 in the Philippines. As the traditional warm-up-for-the-President's-Cup it proved very useful for two competitors who both suffered steering failure (as did our camera boat) while racing. The breezes were a mixture of 10-20 knots from the E, NE or SE, under almost cloudless skies. Yachts from the Philippines and Brunei, crewed by a international cast from the directions of Hong Kong, Holland, New Zealand, Great Britain, the United States and the Czech Republic; all competing for line-honours on courses set amongst the Verde Passage islands and along the beaches. The highlight of the event was the Lindemans' Cup race, on 22nd March, won (some say surprisingly) by the 60-foot Van Dam ketch, Aragorn. The overall regatta winner was Kalayaan 2, followed by Aragorn and China Rose.
