PUERTO GALERA – 31st October, 2023
The 2023 Small Boat Program All Souls Dinghy Regatta in Puerto Galera saw two days of excellent competition between the PGYC dinghy sailors and visitors from the Philippine Sailing Association (“PSA”) and Sailability Philippines.
The competition was focused on Olympic Class Optimist and Mirror, one-design sailing dinghies as the PSA looks to select athletes from around the Philippines to bring home gold in 2024.
Ladies (actually still girls) were in focus at the SBP All Souls Regatta 2023. Puerto Galera ladies were in fierce competition with PSA ladies hoping for selection for the ladies Mirror selection event in Manila later in November. The Puerto Galera Ladies Khim Ashley & Ruchellann gave good report and will be flying the PGYC flag with confidence.
The overall best performance over the weekend was shown by PGYC’s Jonvic & Reymark, winning 9 out of 10 of their Mirror races (and coming 2nd in their 10th race). Definitely gold medal hopes for the Philippines for 2024.

While the overall best performance by in the Ladies division was by PGYC’s Ray Samson sailing an Optimist class dinghy.

Philippines Sailability returned to Puerto Galera for the first time since the Covid crisis and we were pleased that they were able to show good report with an 8th place overall performance.
When not actually racing the sailors adopted the standby committee boat S/Y Camille as their play-station and enjoyed swimming, diving, kayaking and bodyboarding. The take away from the event was that it was definitely More Fun the Philippines in Puerto Galera !
